First, we were treated with the news that Michael Strahan has decided to retire. Good riddance. If I had to ensure one more season of the “Jon Runyan – Michael Strahan” running feud nonsense, I was probably going to have to climb to the top of a tower with a high-powered rifle and…..wait, where was I? Oh yeah….
And now, NOW, this gem has just been released. Apparently, our old friend T.O. has been placed in the NFL’s “reasonable cause” drug testing program for performance-enhancing drugs. Details of this can be found here.
All we need now is for someone in the Redskins organization to get caught soliciting a hooker or buying a kilo of blow and we will be all set!

So I was driving into work this morning listening to “Classic Rewind” on Sirius. “Classic Rewind” is the second-generation of classic rock, as their advertisements purport. Anyway, I am moving along quite nicely when, when, when the unthinkable happened. “Little Miss Can’t Be Wrong” by the Spin Doctors came over the airways, and it was at that moment that I began looking in earnest for a bridge abutment to drive headlong into. The Spin Doctors?!?!?!?!? They were HUGE when I was in college! I said to myself, I said “Self? This can’t be right”. Until I did the math and realized that I have been out of college for over 15 years now.
How did this happen? How did I get so old so fast? Maybe I should ask my 8 year old daughter about, uh, aw hell…….

Check out this picture of Hillary Clinton on the front page of CNN:

Is it me, or does it look like she is trying to focus on cranking out a HA-YUGE fart???

I am pretty confident that being a fan of the Philadelphia pro sports team is shaving years off of my life. Brett Myers essentially pitches like crap all year long, while Cole Hamels has been just dealing. Being a lifelong fan of the Phightin’s, you just KNOW what happens next. Myers turns in two impressive starts in a row and seems to be coming out of his yearlong funk, and now Hamels is pitching BP to the opposing teams. God forbid these two could get on the same page and give us a divisional lead through the summer to enjoy. At least we get to say that we were able to see Chase Utley morph into one of the best players in the game, and potentially one of the best second baseman EVER. I am heading to the game today with the entire family and I sincerely hope to catch a home run ball, but, since I am sitting in Section 306, that would require one HELLUVA poke.
In other news, I have installed Joomla! on the website for Sweet Creations Unlimited, which is my mom’s cake and candy store in Northeast Philadelphia. I have been trying to customize the default template, and I have come to the realization that I am probably going to have to purchase an e-commerce template to replace it. I am learning a ton, and hopefully this leads to a fully functional web presence for the store.

In the past year, I have played most of the high-profile FPS titles on my XBOX 360. “Gears of War”, “Halo 3″, and “Army of Two” really stand out as terrific examples of this genre. I know, I know, “Call of Duty 4″ is a glaring omission in this list, and I really should have played it before making a post like this. However, I just frigging LOVE GoW!!! Once my neighbor Scott and I finished all three games collaboratively, the one game we wanted to go back to on the next difficulty level was GoW. Our decision was rewarded with the terrific graphics and game play, as well as a noticeable increase in the AI. We are now trying to kill RAAM at the end of “hardcore” level, and I think we died 15 times in a row before calling it a night a week ago.
Just writing all of this down makes me want to call Scott and ask, “Hey, wanna kill some shit?”

OK, so this is my first attempt at a blog site… well I am getting ahead of myself. I am the “Wick” in WickNE. My cohort in crime, “E” and I have been best friends for ohhhh, about 25 years. And as the title of our page entails, we share one brain. Over the course of time I think that will become more and more evident to any reader. While we tend to agree on most topics, we have never been able to agree on matters of football (NFL or NCAA). I am a HUGE Cowboys fan while E is a diehard Eagles fan. E loves Notre Dame (sigh) and I am a fan of the powerhou… ok, just Penn State. But outside of that, we are pretty much on the same page. We will be blogging about our favorite subjects: Sports, Movies, TV and video games; and did I mention sports???
